The capuchin-crybird species is listed in the Red Book of Wild Animals due to the catastrophic decline in the population.
Crybaby loves to "chat". They make various sounds when communicating with their relatives, and reacting to extraneous stimuli. The monkeys are famous for their distinctive screech, similar to a human cry, for which they got their name.
On August 29 this year, the long-awaited seventh capuchin was born. Now in the Moscow menagerie lives the largest family of this species, ever formed in captivity. You can watch the whole family in the pavilion "House of Monkeys".
According to the director of the zoo Svetlana Akulova, the baby crybaby weighs almost 200 grams. Veterinarians have not yet examined the cub, so its gender is still unclear. After all the planned activities, the monkey will come up with a name.
Capuchin-crybaby first settled in the zoo in early 2000. Workers were able to create an ideal environment for the breeding of monkeys, and also organized a special diet of fruits, vegetables and insects.
