Loving owners are anxious about the health of their pets. It is known that flea bites can cause dermatological diseases, and tick bites can cause serious inflammatory processes that can lead to the death of an animal. The large Russian company Agrovetzashchita produces the insecticaricidal drug Deltsid. It is active against fleas and ticks, but before use, you must definitely study the instructions.
Characteristics of the drug Delcid for cats
Delcid (Delcid) - a tool for combating fleas and other ectoparasites, as well as for disinfestation and deacarization in rooms with cats. The developer of the formula of the drug is the organization "Agrovetzashchita" (Moscow region). Delcid is used by owners of cats, dogs, poultry and other pets.
NEC "Agrovetzashchita" (AVZ) was founded in 1993. At first it was only 3 people, and the first development of scientists was the drug Azinox. Subsequently, Agrovetzashchita began the production of spot-on Bars drops. Since 2003, the company’s employees began working abroad, and so began the export of medicinal products. Now the company has more than 250 veterinary products, including insecticaricides and cosmetics for animals (shampoos, balms, etc.). In 2005, AVZ took a leading position in the Russian market of veterinary products.

Release form Deltsida
Delcid is a clear brownish tinted liquid. It looks like an oily substance, which, when mixed with water, forms a dense turbid emulsion and acquires a white color. The drug is poured into ampoules of transparent glass or plastic. Ampoules can be 1.25 or 1.5 cm 3 in volume, but 2 cm 3 packaging is becoming more popular. The outer packaging becomes a cardboard bundle, in which 5 ampoules are placed.
The veterinary pharmacy told me that such small packages are most often bought by the owners of dogs or cats, as well as those who just need to get rid of fleas (for example, those living on the ground floor, especially in late spring, when insects activate). But farmers and livestock owners buy a different packaging of the drug. Bottle made of metal or plastic with a volume of 1 liter, 1.25 or 1.3 liters are also available. the rarest form of release of this drug is canisters of 3, 5 or 20 dm 3 . In a veterinary pharmacy near my house, Deltsid in 2-ml ampoules costs 165 rubles per pack (5 ampoules), and a liter bottle costs 1750 rubles. They explained to me that the price may depend on the release date of the batch.
The ampoules themselves indicate the name of the manufacturer, volume and active substance, as well as the date and lot number of the issue. More information is available on the outer packaging. On the front side of the box there is a manufacturer’s logo and the purpose of the drug is indicated, and on the back side there is detailed information about the manufacturer and storage recommendations. Separately indicate the date, batch number of the issue, as well as a bar code. Inside the box lay detailed instructions. Important: only a dog can be shown on the box, but cat owners need to look for a pack with a picture of a cat and a dog.
Delcid is available in several forms, but cats use Delcid in ampoules of 2 ml
The composition of the drug
The composition of Delcide includes the following components:
- pyrethroid deltamethrin - 4.0% (active substance);
- twin 80;
An interesting fact: deltamethrin, which is used in modern insecticidal preparations, is a synthetically created analogue of pyrethrins. Pyrethrins (Pirethrum) are obtained from the flowers of Dalmatian chamomile and other perennial plants. Dalmatian grass used to grow only in Kenya, Tanzania, Ecuador and Rwanda. By their chemical nature, pyrethrins are complex water-soluble esters, which are easily oxidized in contact with air. All this led scientists to develop a formula for a more stable analogue of these substances, which is also 900 times more effective than natural insecticides.
Tween 80 is used in veterinary preparations and protective agents because of its ability to give fats and oils the ability to dissolve in water. And nefras (decoding: oil solvent) is needed in order to dissolve these very oils. The surfactant in Delcide is neonol. Delcid owes its color to this particular substance.
Deltamethrin is an analogue of natural pyrethrin used in the manufacture of insecticides
Terms and conditions of storage of Delcid
Delcid, like any veterinary medicine, must be stored under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer. Firstly, the storage location should not be accessible to children and animals. The drug should not be in contact with food or animal feed. Secondly, the storage location should be away from heat and moisture, sunlight should not fall on the packaging. Ideally, if this is a first-aid kit located in the closet on the top shelf.
It is important not to forget about the shelf life. If all these conditions are met, then Delcid will be valid for 2 years from the date of issue. When the expiration date has expired, the ampoules and box must be disposed of. You will have to throw out the drug earlier if you stored it without observing the listed rules.
Deltsid is stored at a temperature from 0 ° C to 30 ° C. Most of my friends keep such products in the refrigerator, but I have a special first-aid kit for this. I keep all products from fleas and worms in sealed bags so that they do not come into contact with medicines and vitamins. By the way, it is better not to throw out the boxes until the expiration of a possible storage period. If all signs are erased on the ampoule, you simply can not check the suitability of the product without external packaging.
The Delcid effect is associated with the ability of deltamethrin to affect the functioning of the nervous system of parasites. It blocks the nerve impulses of ectoparasites, which leads to paralysis. A paralyzed insect is immobilized and loses its ability to stay on the body of an animal or other surfaces. So the owners of cats will not be difficult to get rid of garbage in the form of corpses of parasites. Unlike most insecticide and acaricidal preparations, Delcid has not only intestinal action, but also a contact effect (for example, fleas can die after “breathing out” fumes).
Delcid causes paralysis and death of ectoparasites
Indications for use in cats
Delcid is used for infection with the following types of ectoparasites:
- sarcoptoid and ixodid ticks (including demodex);
- sexually mature lice and fleas;
- bed bugs;
- down-eaters, lice-eaters;
- flies, horseflies and mosquitoes.
Delcid cats are prescribed most often because of ticks or fleas. But in some cases, the cat may remain uninfected, while parasites in the meantime live in an apartment or house. For example, this happens on the first floors of old houses. In spring, insects rise from the basements, and the owners of four-legged pets are afraid that the cat will “pick up” parasites. In addition, Delcid can be used for preventive purposes.
Instructions for use Deltsida
In the manufacturer's annotation, 2 methods of application are indicated - cat treatment and room processing. Depending on the method, the methods of use and dosage of the drug differ.
The cat can be bathed (if the coat is long) or sprayed with Delcida solution (if the coat is short). In this case, bathing should be done in the bath, and spraying - with the help of a spray. In this case, avoid getting the solution in the eyes, mouth and nose of the cat. If we are talking about ticks, then you need to treat not only the infected area, but also the area around it with a diameter of 1.5–2 cm. In any case, Delcid should be dissolved immediately before use, and always in cold tap water. After that, let the hair dry, and bathing the cat is not recommended for 3 days after treatment.
The emulsion will dissolve more evenly if it is first mixed with a small amount of water in a separate container, and the resulting solution is then poured into the main amount of water
Table: dosage and application schedule
|Type of parasites||Dosage||Application chart|
|Lice, whipworms, fleas||2 ml per 1.6 l||2-3 times (interval - up to 10 days)||1 time|
|Scabies mites||1.25 ml per 1 liter||2 times (interval - up to 2 weeks)||Once every six months|
|Ixodid ticks||Up to 1 ml per 1 liter||1 time|
It is recommended to treat the cat with Delcidum solution under the supervision (supervision) of a veterinarian. Also, one must not forget about the nature of the cat - not every animal will allow itself to be smeared or soaked in an incomprehensible solution with an unfamiliar odor.
My cat can calmly react to bathing (every six months I bathe her with a special shampoo, so she is not afraid of smells). But she does not feel confidence in sprays or any sprayers. One has only to pick up a spray gun, as she runs away and hides. Each owner has his own "chips" for calming pets. My older cat, for example, behaves calmer when she is "pissed". She can easily endure clipping, putting on a new collar and even trying on overalls. But my sister's cat calms down if he is shown a treat (but not allowed). He will sit quietly and endure in the hope that then they will still give him a "delicious".

Room treatment Delcid
Before processing the premises, it must first be prepared. Animal food and products need to be removed, it is advisable to cover the dishes with a waterproof film, etc. The diltsid is diluted with water, and the desired room is sprayed or washed with the resulting solution. Some owners call this process “filling” the room (especially if there are a lot of fleas in it). After processing the room, you need to wait 1.5 hours, and then ventilate the room. Window panes, windows or doors should be open for at least 60 minutes. Corpses of insects must be removed so that the cat could not come into contact with them. The floor can be sweeping or vacuuming. The dishes of the cat, hairbrushes and trays must be thoroughly washed, and the litter should be washed. Only after this, the pet can be launched into the room.
The manufacturer recommends calculating the amount of the finished solution based on the quality of the surface. For 100 m 2 of smooth walls and floor you will need 5 liters of emulsion, and for processing 100 m 2 of rough surfaces - twice as much.
Table: preparation of surface treatment mortar
|Insect species||Rough surface||Smooth surface|
|Crawling||Up to 19 ampoules per bucket of water||Up to 2 ampoules per 1 liter of water|
|Flying||Up to 10 ampoules per 1 liter of water||Up to 10 ampoules per 1 liter of water|
To treat the room with a solution of Delcid, you can use a special spray
Contraindications and side effects
Contraindications to the use of Delcide in cats:
- weakened conditions;
- exhaustion (including after illness);
- hypersensitivity to the components of Delcide;
- second half of pregnancy.
If you use the emulsion in strict accordance with the recommendations, then no side effects will occur. If the cat is hypersensitive to the components of the drug or an overdose has occurred, then the following phenomena may occur:
- lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting;
- swelling, lacrimation, increased salivation;
- disorientation (gait disturbance, etc.).
In such cases, you should contact your veterinarian. The specialist will check the condition of the animal, if necessary, the cat may be prescribed symptomatic therapy. The owner of the cat should remember that this drug is not recommended in the future.
If the cat's behavior / condition has changed after using Delcid, then its use should be discontinued
Special instructions and precautions
When working with Delcid, a number of rules must be observed:
- During the preparation and use of the solution, you should not drink, smoke, eat.
- In contact with the drug, personal protective equipment (mask, gloves, work clothing, headgear, rubber boots, respirator) should be used.
- Work with the emulsion can not be more than 6 hours a day.
- After using the solution, the protective equipment must be removed, wash your face and hands with soap, rinse your mouth with running water.
- If the emulsion or its solution has got on the skin, then the contaminated area should be immediately washed with water or a soda solution.
- Before work, you need to make sure that there is a first-aid kit nearby for first aid.
- If Delcid gets inside, you need to take up to 10 tablets of activated charcoal and drink them with warm water.
- If after contact with the drug a person feels dizzy or other symptoms of poisoning, urgently need to go to the hospital.
The dishes in which the emulsion was dissolved cannot simply be thrown into the trash. It must be poured with a solution of soda ash (3-5%) and left for 5-6 hours. After this, the soda solution should be poured, and the container rinsed under a stream of water.
My son has a respiratory allergosis. Simply put, it begins to choke when smells of ethyl alcohol, bleach, chloramine, etc. are floating in the air. To avoid unpleasant consequences, I use chemicals only in its absence. The friends who used Delcid also sent their children for a walk until the smell completely disappeared. When the child returns to the room, he needs to be asked if he smells an odor. If it feels, then the room is not well ventilated.
For work with Deltsidom respirators of the F-62 (ShM), Astra-2 brands, like the Petal-40 type are suitable. "Petal-5", etc.

Reviews about the drug
The skirting board and the floor have undergone very thorough processing. Sooner or later, fleas will jump there anyway. It was because of the skirting boards that the majority of insects jumped out. It was a pity the laminate, but I had to fill it and make puddles. In some rooms we have carpet. There are more problems with him. Window sills were also sprayed. Using a rag dampened with a product, they wiped the places on the closet where the cat was lying. Spray on all crevices. And remember that at least 0.5 liters of solution should go to 10 m2. We did not wash clothes in drawers and cabinets and did not process cabinets inside. The cat did not sit there. Laundry bedding at 60 degrees. Then they ironed everything with steam.Berry_1, forum user
Since at 9 pm in the fall walking for half an hour with children is not the best option, I decided to process the apartment with rooms and gradually close them. Toward the end of the second room, since I was spraying myself and smelling the smell, I felt a swelling of the nasopharynx as with a starting cold, by the way, it is necessary to spray in the mittens, because if you get on your skin you feel a burning sensation. While I worked on the 3rd room, it was the floor and furniture around, it took 30 minutes to ventilate and wash the first. My husband and I remained in the hall, he also had a telly, in the end, and his nose was thrown and sneezed. For the whole apartment I took 2 ampoules, that is, 2 liters of water and it was very wet. What can I say after these 30 minutes, I already saw the result, namely the dead or already dead bodies of insects when I washed the floors. After this treatment, I then constantly saw the corpses, so for a week every day I vacuumed the floor.Lightsv, forum user
The apartment has 1 cat and 5 people. One of us brought fleas to the apartment. First they caught one on the cat, then I found one on my leg. Purchased at the pet shop Delcid for processing the apartment and Fiprist cat at the withers. They dropped a cat at the withers, in the apartment I vacuumed, but then got sick and could not wash the floors (temporarily we all parted, so there was nobody else besides me). The next day, I drained another 500 ml of the solution to the kitchen, hallway, bathroom and toilet. Processed thicker, but still could not pour as much as needed according to the instructions. Even with a draft during processing, I and the father-in-law almost became ill. A cat was bought and put on a flea collar yesterday. Today I found a flea on my leg and realized that all this had a negligible effect.kofa joh, forum user
Delcid is a drug used by cats against fleas, ticks and other ectoparasites. They can treat not only an infected pet, but also a room in which unwanted insects are wound. This drug is inexpensive, and you can buy it without a prescription. However, it should be understood that Delcid has contraindications, and a dosage violation during the preparation of the working solution can lead to undesirable consequences.
