The region is stretched from west to east. The territory is represented by a flat surface with small hills, there are sharp slopes of hills. The climate is continental. Winter is cold, summers are hot, seasons are pronounced. About 100 rivers flow through the region, among them there are large and small. There are about 300 lakes. Most are small, some are overgrown with peat. The deepest lake is Kshara.
There is a Meshchera National Park in the region, about a thousand plants grow in it, 42 species of mammals, 180 species of birds and 17 fish live. The park is located in the southeast. Broad-leaved forests occupy a small area of the park, spruce massifs are absent. Most of the territory is represented by oak forests. There are a couple of aspen forests. Alder shores of brooks grow alders and black lichens. Swamps are represented by large massifs. Many plants growing next to them are rare. The task of the park is to preserve rare vegetation.
Meschera National Park
This region has a very large mineral resource base. There are deposits of peat and sapropel. This is one of the leading regions in terms of peat reserves. Quartz sands are abundant in the south of the region. They are widely used in manufacturing.
Vegetation is represented by mixed forests , which occupy 50% of the territory. Of these, most are coniferous in nature, small-leaved. Broad-leaved and spruce forests are found. From the trees there are pine, birch, Christmas tree, aspen.
On the territory there are a large number of berries - raspberries, strawberries, currants, cranberries. You can see medicinal plants and a large number of mushrooms.
Yatrashnik shlemonosny - a plant used in folk medicine. Due to deforestation , the population has declined.
Venus slipper - is a rare species that is listed in the Red Book . The flower in appearance resembles a shoe in honor of which it was named.
Anemone - The plant blooms in May. Also applies to rare plants.

There are 55 species of mammals, 216 species of birds. This area is the largest in the number of wild animals - moose, wild boars, wolves, hares, foxes. There is a desman, which is listed in the Red Book. A large amount of protein is found in the region.
The bison belongs to large herbivores.
Zmeelov is a hunting bird that selects forests with a large number of snakes.
Shallow noctule - bat brown. It feeds on barrels. It flies out to hunt after sunset. In summer they live in hollow colonies. Deforestation has led to deforestation .
The black stork is a large bird, comparable to a crane. It lives in forests with high humidity. Birds nest in pairs. It is also an endangered species, which is associated with poaching and deforestation of alder trees.

About 30 species of fish are found in water bodies - roach, perch, pike, crucian carp and so on.
Hunting is allowed only under a license for moose, wild boars, deer in the cold period - from November to January. Some species of birds are allowed to hunt for only 10 days in April.
