The very first cafe for cats opened in Yekaterinburg in 2014. This institution was called "Cat's House", nine animals were constantly living in it. After a year, it had to be closed, since it was unprofitable. We managed to attach all the cats in good hands.
The second kotokofe was opened in Yekaterinburg in just three years. This place was called "Meow" and it, unlike the cafe "Cat House", flourished. In July 2019, he got another branch. The first institution is located at: embankment of Working Youth, 45. And the second is located on Chapaeva Street, 17.
How and who had the idea of opening a cafe for cats?
The owners of the Meow cotafe are two girls Daria Polyanskaya and Valentina Konysheva. Initially, they were the creators of the Meow gallery social charity project, whose goal is to save as many homeless animals as possible. Since 2015, Daria and Valentina find hosts for cats through social networks. On average, they attach about 200 cats a year to good hands.
In 2016, the girls came up with the idea to open a time cafe for cats. However, they were able to do this only a year later. It was not easy to rent the right room, but, nevertheless, in December 2017, Meow finally opened its doors for visitors. A few weeks after the opening of this establishment, 9 animals found their owners. Through the cafe, the girls managed to attach even those cats that could not find their home for six months.

All visitors are required to take off their outer clothing and change into slippers when entering the room. If desired, of course, you can stay in socks. Before you start directly communicating with cats, you need to wash your hands. Only after that the administrator will write you to a special base for counting time.

Special rules are also established in the institution for children, they can not attend it without parents. Daria and Valentina believe that every child should learn how to deal with pets correctly, but he should do this only under the supervision of his parents. Therefore, children under 7 years old are allowed in the cafe only if the parents undertake to constantly monitor them and monitor their behavior. Children from 7 to 14 years old can also come to Meow only accompanied by adults. Adolescents who have reached the age of fifteen are entitled to be in an institution without their parents.
What is the atmosphere in the cafe itself?
In Meow there are no standard tables and chairs, as well as menus, waiters and all that is in a regular cafe. The room looks like an ordinary apartment. Immediately at the entrance there is a small dressing room and reception desk, as well as a small table for guests with tea and sweets. At the end of the corridor is a bathroom with toilet and sink. Next is the play area, where children and adults can play the console, a room with sofas and book shelves, which are full of books and magazines and another lounge with a chair and a rocking horse. Of course, everywhere there are bowls of food and water, toys, beds and cat trays.

In the cafe you can do anything: pet, caress animals or just watch them, read, drink tea and chat with friends. The administrator often takes pictures of visitors, so you can ask to be photographed with a particular cat, and then they will send you a photo, for example, by e-mail. On weekends, various workshops are held at Meow, if you want to visit one of them, this is possible only by appointment.
Cafes for cats were created not only so that everyone could look at the animals and stroke them. Such establishments help cats find owners and a new home. So if you do not have the opportunity to pick up a cat from a kotokafe, you can make a small donation for the establishment: buy a small souvenir or cat food in order to treat them with animals.
