False scions are extremely unattractive creatures that can be found anywhere in the world. These small insects can live even in your apartment. They live in dark and inaccessible places, therefore, most likely you have never seen them.
What do false scorpions look like?
These insects look very much like the most ordinary scorpions. But in fact, they have nothing to do with them. Since the closest relatives of false scorpions are spiders. They even have spider glands. Only they are not located in the abdomen, as in most arachnids, but on the chelicerae. However, despite the presence of the necessary glands, false scorpions are not involved in weaving the web.
These strange creatures are easy to miss, because they are very small. The body length of a false scorpion does not exceed 2-3 millimeters. With an ordinary scorpion it is related by an elongated body of a drop-shaped shape and a similar structure of claws. Our hero also has many paws that are equipped with small claws and special suction cups. With their help, the insect can easily climb on any, even vertical surfaces.

On the abdomen are two spiracles, which are responsible for breathing. And on the cephalothorax, covered by a shield, there are 1-2 pairs of eyes. However, this unusual creature practically does not use them. False scorpion sees very poorly, he can distinguish only light and darkness. And some species of these insects are generally completely blind.
Where are false scorpions found?
Pseudoscoprions are found in absolutely any locality: in caves, forests, deserts and mountains. But the largest cluster of these insects is in the rainforests. Often they don’t even look for separate houses, but simply settle in strangers. So birds, moles, ants and many other animals just have to endure the presence of such arrogant neighbors.
It is no secret that false scorpions easily penetrate people's homes. So it is likely that even in your apartment there are a couple of these insects. They are attracted to moisture, dust and dirt. They settle in the darkest corners of the apartment, for example, under the bathroom or in the toilet. Of course, these spiders can do a good job, because they easily destroy other pests - cockroaches, flies, bugs. But usually the appearance of false scorpions in a house indicates that it would be good to clean it.

What do false scorpions eat?
These arachnid creatures are predators, so their diet consists of various small insects: springtails, worms, beetles, caterpillars. They also eat larvae with pleasure. False scorpions that live in apartments and houses feed on dust mites, cockroaches, flies and bedbugs.
The predator eats its prey in an extremely interesting way: it simply "rides" on it. We can say that this little double of an ordinary scorpion is a real cleaner. He does a good deed - cleans the house of pests.
How do false scorpions breed?
The male performs a bizarre mating dance, trying her best to please the female. If the goal is achieved and the chosen one has given her consent to mating, then he puts in front of her a bag with his genetic material. And the female just sits down on him and absorbs everything she needs for fertilization. After a month, she lays up to 30 eggs in a special incubation chamber, which is located on her back. The period of their gestation lasts about a month.

After the larvae were born, it still remains attached to the camera. Then they molt and are already separated from the mother, and after another three molts the insects completely become adults and begin to live independently.
False scorpions live only 2-3 years. Despite such a short life span, they manage to become parents several times. For humans, these insects pose no threat. Even those that are poisonous because their poison is completely harmless to humans.
